Every now and then I make editorial illustrations for Vers Beton, a local Rotterdam news platform for opinion pieces and investigative journalism.
In March 2023, Vers Beton published a large investigation in collaboration with Wired, Argos and Follow The Money. The city of Rotterdam has been using AI to detect fraud in the welfare system. This algorithm disadvantaged certain groups, like young, single mothers with a Dutch language delay. Read the article here.
